BORELLI SPRING/SUMMER 2013 – SNEAK PEEK

Today I want to share with you a quick look into planning our next line for BORELLI – Spring/Summer 2013.  When I start a new project I look in magazines, books and art galleries for inspiration.  I also let my mind wander while running along the beach.  I consider what styles did well last year and which ones didn’t.  Typically I become obsessed with one textile or picture and build the collection around it.  For this fall I couldn’t stop referring to a sari I bought from a street vendor on Mt Abu, a hill station in Western India.  Random, yes, but I still remember the fabric blowing in the wind (because Mt Abu is the windiest place I have ever visited!) and running up to it stuttering “how much?” in broken Gujarati.  It’s been hanging up in the office for months!

For Spring/Summer 2013 I found this image via Vogue Russia and fell in love with the mix of florals and stripes, the bright yet subdued color palette and BIG gold jewelry.  Now, time to design and source the fabric!
