athleta Marissa enjoyed her time designing swimwear, outerwear, knit tops, bottoms and wovens at Athleta. Gained extensive experience in BOM’s and tech packs for Asian factories.
Mizuno_logo Marissa joined the Mizuno team in March 2012 as a freelance designer for its volleyball and softball lines—the latter of which can be found in Dick’s Sporting Goods stores. The highly respected maker of active wear and sports apparel uses the tagline Never Settle™, and the company lives that philosophy every day. Marissa is finding it especially rewarding to design for a brand that sets such high standards and won’t settle for anything less.

oakley-logo BORELLI Design and Oakley have entered into a co-branding arrangement on BORELLI drirelease scarves. The high-performance, multi-use wraps that are being marketed by Oakley have both the BORELLI Design and Oakley logos imprinted on them and can be used as a scarf, dress, skirt, blanket, or even a yoga mat carrier. Look for the colorful wraps being proudly worn by Oakley’s stable of world-class athletes at a variety of sporting events.

lululemon logo Marissa was the Southern Californian eyes and ears for the Vancouver-based yoga and fitness retailer from 2009-2010. She reported on exercise and apparel trends from the fitness epicenter of Los Angeles. She consulted on customer experience and grass roots marketing. She also led visual merchandising, social media marketing and helmed design meetings.

Race Ready is a runner’s running apparel company—one that was founded and is owned exclusively by long-distance runners. The 19-year-old company strives to manufacture the highest quality, best-performing apparel and accessories for the running community, with all products made 100% in the USA. Marissa has been working with Race Ready since 2011, handling post-acquisition product refreshes as well as ongoing new product design.

In the fall of 2010, Green Apple tapped Marissa to bring an athlete’s perspective to their design team. She took the helm of design for the Marmaxx Group (TJ Maxx and Marshalls, which combine to be the largest retailer world-wide) under the labels So Sporty and Green Apple.  Marissa managed production with domestic and overseas factories, designed graphics, and worked closely with the buyer and merchandiser. She also developed a color palette that appealed to west and east coast markets.


From 2005-2007 Marissa was the creative director and apparel designer of start-up K Active by Kerri Walsh, the Olympic Beach Volleyball two-time gold medalist.  She took the debut collection from concept to production, secured sales outlets and created and led the launch marketing strategy.

In 2006 Marissa assisted the Concept Designer for RL Women’s Golf and designed the uniforms for the 2007 US Open.
