TDH and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary with a happy hour dinner at Roppongi in La Jolla Village. Overall the dinner was ok, I would give it a 6 out of 10. While the truffle fries were AHHHHMAZING, (I mean, those are foolproof) the sushi was mediocre. The fish was fresh but the rice must have been Uncle Ben’s. The pappadums were light and crunchy (good) and served with chutney that tasted like it came from a jar you pick up at World Market (bad). The shrimp and scallop gyoza was tasty. But the best dish we had was the Hamachi Taro Tacos served with Asian guacamole (I was too busy devouring to take a photo!). Last but not least, the cocktails were delicious, can’t go wrong there.
If you go, sit outside, the patio is welcoming and sunny. After dinner walk to the Cove to watch the sunset or shop along Prospect and Girard.
