TESCIA SEUFFERLEIN SHOW OPENING

tessie

My dear high school friend Tescia is having her first solo art show this month and opening night is tomorrow!  If you live in New York you must stop by her show.  I cannot explain how proud of her I am, she impresses me every day with her imagination and work ethic.  We lived a block away from each other in NYC and had a few too many crazy dancing nights but now we are (attempting to be) adults and I can’t wait to see her grow even more as an artist.  You may remember we collaborated before on the BORELLI Olympics American Flag Scarf, she hand paints EACH scarf!

STRATUM
Opening reception Saturday, January 19th 6-9pm

English Kills Art Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Stratum, the first solo show by artist Tescia Seufferlein. Stratum combines clothing and painting into an emotional sculptural assemblage of new work by the artist. It will be open to the public from January 19th until February 7th.

Stratum displays sculptural paintings that utilize iconic clothing to embody a single emotional state through an abstract form. The evocative, draping forms in Seufferlein’s work capture the colliding moment of beautiful optimism met with daunting pessimism. This exhibition is an accumulation of fabric and clothing, along with a dramatic color scheme that provokes a haunted interiority. These sculptures are a collision of perfection and decomposition.
